The Seiko Power Design Project HHK001 reimagines the traditional chronograph through an imaginative design inspired by one of nature’s most recognizable animals: the giant panda. Part of Seiko’s innovative Collection 2, this distinctive limited-edition timepiece transforms the panda’s expressive face into a functional watch dial, combining playful creativity with Seiko’s watchmaking expertise. Its white dial, contrasting black chronograph subdials, and carefully considered details make it a standout piece for collectors who appreciate unconventional design and unique horological concepts.

Powered by the Seiko Caliber 8T61 quartz chronograph movement, the HHK001 delivers reliable timekeeping with an accuracy of approximately ±15 seconds per month and an estimated three-year battery life. Its chronograph measures elapsed time up to 60 minutes in 1/5-second increments, while the small seconds display adds practical functionality. The distinctive subdials evoke the panda’s eyes, and the dial’s textured finish draws inspiration from its fluffy fur. Even the hands take on a bamboo-leaf-inspired shape, reflecting the panda’s favorite food.

The thoughtful design continues throughout the case and strap. The recessed chronograph pushers resemble panda ears, while the tachymeter scale features Seiko’s playful “SASAMETER” designation, a bamboo-inspired interpretation of the traditional tachymeter. A panda-inspired illustration on the caseback reinforces the watch’s character, and the coordinating cowhide leather strap incorporates contrasting textures inspired by the animal’s fur.
