Seiko Watches 5 Sports SKX series SRPL79

The Seiko 5 Sports SKX SRPL79 brings the unmistakable character of Seiko’s iconic sports-watch heritage into a refined mid-size design made for contemporary everyday wear. Inspired by the visual language of Seiko’s celebrated SKX lineage, this 38mm automatic watch combines a charcoal dial with distinctive gold accents, a black unidirectional rotating bezel, and a stainless steel three-row bracelet.

At its heart is Seiko’s proven Caliber 4R36 automatic movement, featuring both automatic winding and manual-winding capability. The 24-jewel mechanical movement operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour and provides approximately 41 hours of power reserve, while the day/date display and stop-second function add practical functionality for everyday use.

The SRPL79 carries the enduring spirit of Seiko 5 Sports, a collection whose roots extend back to 1963 and whose sports-watch identity was established in 1968. Its SKX-inspired case architecture, LumiBrite hands and indexes, and rotating elapsed-time bezel reflect Seiko’s long relationship with durable, highly legible sports watches.

Sized at 38mm in diameter and 12.1mm thick, the watch offers a compact profile compared with many modern sports watches, making it especially versatile for daily wear. The stainless steel case and bracelet provide durability, while the three-fold clasp incorporates a secure lock and push-button release. A Hardlex crystal protects the dial, and the screw-down transparent caseback offers a view of the mechanical movement.

With 10 bar (100 meters / 330 feet) water resistance, the SRPL79 is well suited to everyday water exposure and active lifestyles, while its diver-inspired styling gives it the unmistakable presence of a classic sports watch. For collectors and enthusiasts, its 38mm SKX-inspired proportions, mechanical movement, and distinctive charcoal-and-gold execution make the Seiko SRPL79 a compelling addition to a modern Seiko collection.
