Rado has spent more than six decades mastering materials, and few brands understand high-tech ceramic like the Swiss “Master of Materials.” The Captain Cook Discover R32279312 brings that expertise to one of the brand’s most beloved names. It reinterprets the Captain Cook spirit through newly balanced proportions and an all-black ceramic design.

The 40.7mm case and fixed bezel are crafted from polished black high-tech ceramic, a material that is exceptionally hard, highly scratch-resistant, lightweight, and comfortable against the skin. Case and bezel flow together in one continuous, glossy black finish, with integrated crown protection shaping the profile. At just 12.3mm thick, it sits elegantly on the wrist.

The dial is where the Discover comes alive. A black-to-green gradient with a sunray finish shifts from deep shadow to forest green as the light moves. Black gold-colored applied indices and skeletonized hands add refinement, and green Super-LumiNova® on the hands, indices, and Rado’s signature moving anchor glows in the dark. A date window adds everyday practicality, all beneath a curved sapphire crystal.

The ceramic continues onto the wrist. The three-link bracelet pairs matte black ceramic outer links with polished center links for a subtle contrast of textures. A titanium three-fold clasp with a polished ceramic buckle cover offers three quick-adjustment positions for a perfect fit.

Inside beats the Rado Caliber R763, a 25-jewel Swiss automatic movement with an 80-hour power reserve, an anti-magnetic Nivachron™ balance spring, and testing in five positions. It is visible through the sapphire caseback. A screw-down ceramic crown helps deliver 150 meters of water resistance.
