    Some designs are too good to stay in the past. Mido’s TV-shaped case first appeared in 1973 in the Multi Star line, returned in the 1980s and 2000s, and was reborn in 2023 as the Multifort TV Big Date. Now this contemporary icon takes its biggest step forward yet. The Multifort TV Big Date Chronometer is the first in the collection with a COSC-certified movement.

    The sunray blue dial has been completely reimagined with a deeply stamped rectangular checkerboard pattern. It catches the light from every angle and gives the dial a richness well beyond its price. At 12 o’clock, Mido’s signature Big Date, displayed across two side-by-side date wheels, now sits in an applied metal frame that matches the indices. Super-LumiNova on the hands and markers ensures clear readability day and night, and “Chronometer” on the dial signals the upgrade within.

    That upgrade is the Mido Caliber 80 COSC, a self-winding Swiss movement officially certified for accuracy by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres. It features a Nivachron™ balance spring for enhanced resistance to magnetism and temperature changes, and an impressive power reserve of up to 80 hours, so it is still running Monday morning after a weekend off the wrist. You can see it at work through the transparent caseback.

    The 40mm × 39.2mm stainless steel case alternates satin-brushed and polished surfaces and is protected by sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. It flows into a stainless steel bracelet with polished center links and a push-button folding clasp engraved with the Mido logo. With 100 meters of water resistance, it is as ready for weekends as it is for the office.
