Spring Drive — The World's Most Unique Movement
Seiko's patented Spring Drive is a true mechanical movement powered by a mainspring, but regulated by a electromagnetic "glide wheel" instead of a traditional escapement. The result is accuracy within ±1 second per day — matching quartz — with the smooth sweep and soul of a mechanical watch. No other brand makes anything like it. Astron GPS Solar — First GPS Watch in History
Seiko launched the world's first GPS solar wristwatch in 2012 under the Astron name — the same name as the first quartz watch from 1969. It receives GPS satellite signals to automatically set the correct local time in any of 39 time zones worldwide. Runs entirely on solar energy with no battery change required. LumiBrite — Seiko's Proprietary Lume
Seiko does not use third-party luminescent compounds. LumiBrite is their own formula, developed in-house, that outperforms standard SuperLuminova in both brightness and glow duration. Zaratsu Polishing — Hand-Finished to a Mirror
Seiko's Zaratsu polishing technique is a traditional Japanese metalworking method applied to watch cases by hand. Each surface is polished against a flat tin wheel until it achieves a perfect distortion-free mirror finish with razor-sharp edges. It is the same technique used in Grand Seiko and is applied to King Seiko and premium Presage models — impossible to replicate by machine.
